Hello, I'm Karim. I'm a current student at the American School of Doha (Qatar) and I grew up in Florida/Virginia. I'm quite interested in Molecular Biology, and Pharmacology and my goal is to receive a Doctorate in Pharmacology. I'm also pretty interested in Chemistry. Pharmacology is quite an interdisciplinary field, and it's something that we often don't take notice of in our everyday lives which is what makes it so interesting to me. I'm a current IB Biology HL student as well as an Honors Chem student (moving onto AP chem). I've worked with pharmacology professors and post docs in Weill Cornell Medical College Qatar on some of their ongoing research into Metformin, a diabetes drug with an interesting effect on endothelial function and tumor growth. Hopefully over the course of my 3 weeks at BLI I'll learn some new concepts, get some practical experience, and see the sights.
